Kasey says, “Who says gardening can’t be fashionable? I finished a second pair of overalls for myself and my husband, and I used designer fabric to boot. It’s a Ralph Lauren denim from our local fabric maven Roz at Sew Much Fabric." This designer denim was lovely to sew with; even though it's medium weight, it's on the lighter side. Still, use a denim needle (size 90 should be fine) and a 100 topstitching needle with the traditional, 12 wt "denim" thread to create the classic look (an edge stitch and topstitch.) You'll want to do this in two passes - a double-needle doesn't work well for topstitching denim. Or, serge your seams - go ahead and change to size 90 serger needles. Then go back to the 100 topstitch needle and denim thread as described to finish with the "faux-felled" look. I embroidered my pockets with a cute little gingko design from Urban Threads.
