Kimberly says, “I finished these crops about a week ago and have already worn them twice!!! A few weeks ago, I did some window shopping and noticed the faux leather pants absolutely everywhere! I had already admired a few pairs on some teachers at work, so I decided it was high time for me to make a pair for myself.
Simplicity 8175 view E never disappoints! I have made countless pairs of these crops in different lengths and fabrics and since I have fitted them perfectly to my body, they are an easy sew. I did have to read up on sewing with faux leather so here are my top tips:
- use a jeans, microtex or leather needle. I tried all three and all worked for this fabric
- Use a longer stitch length-3.5mm since the fabric is delicate and can rip with smaller stitches.
- Use a press cloth, no steam and low heat setting. The steam can cause the plastic to stop adhering to the fabric backing.
- Glue your hem with tacky glue instead of stitching it so the line of the leg isn’t interrupted.
These pants go with absolutely everything and are so comfortable!!!
My students were big fans when I wore them last week. They couldn’t believe they weren’t real leather. Huge shout out to Sew Much Fabric for this amazing red faux leather!!! I need to order some more stat!
